The Resort
Davos, Switzerland

Davos has some truly fantastic skiing in a large area, which also encompasses the Klosters side of the mountain, so we get to ski in two famous Swiss resorts at the same time!
There are a large amount of gentle, wide and crusiey blue runs with one mountain (Jacobshorn) set aside for carving on wide long pistes - it is also where there is a good board park. There also some very long red runs which go from the very top of the mountain all the way to the Klosters and Davos valleys, through the trees and past lovely restaurants.
Being quite a large town Davos is fairly spread out but consequently it does have a lot to offer including, ice skating, watching ice hockey, tobogganing, cinema, casino and lots of good bars and restaurants for us to sample.

The Hotel
Hotel Sunstar Park 4*

This is a modern, well-equipped hotel 5 minutes walk from the centre of Davos Platz; with a free shuttle service to the main lift stations, the nearest being the Jacobshorn, 500 metres away.
The lounge is very spacious and evenings can be quite lively, with piano music and dancing in the bar, which has an open fire and reasonable prices. The style of decor of the public areas is a little dated, although now it's almost fashionable "retro" styling!

The bedrooms are very comfortable and have been attractively refurbished in a modern alpine style; all bedrooms have a minibar and cable TV. As well as a delightful restaurant there is a rustic, Fondue and Raclette Stubli and the hotel has an excellent leisure centre, with an exceptionally large pool, saunas and squash court.
Service is courteous, helpful and friendly. |
